5 Things the Apple Store Won’t Tell You

(But We Will.)

1. Apple Upgrades are overpriced.
2. AppleCare is not always the best choice

3. Apple “Geniuses” are not all that brilliant. Usually.

4. What Apple recommends is not always the best option.

5. Upgrades to certain products are a good idea.

We love the Apple Stores, even if it does impact our ability to become official Apple resellers. What it’s done for Apple’s momentum and increased market share of the PC and mobile space is undeniable. The Appls Stores are actually the most profitable retail stores ever on a profit by square foot basis. The geniuses at the Genius Bar are generally far more capable than any you’ll find at Best Buy or its’ fraud filled Geek Squad division, and you’re talking Apple products only here, so no confusing the issue with 10,000 inferior Windows based PC’s, software, and “solutions.” As pros for over thirty years though, we bring much more to the table than even the Apple Store can.

 .

1. Apple Upgrades are overpriced.

 .

It’s gotten better, but Apple still charges too much for the upgrades of RAM, drives, and so on. As of this writing, a 256GB Apple SSD upgrade for a MacBook Pro costs around $500. and you’re getting a bottom of the line drive too. Even with labor our solution is less expensive, faster, more reliable, and warrantied longer. Same with many other upgrades, and we offer more than just the labor and parts.

 .

2. AppleCare is not always the best choice

 .

Especially if you don’t live near an Apple Store, such as anyone in Wesy Virginia for example, but there are other reasons as well. Limitations on what they will do, hidden caveats to the terms, and other issues make AppleCare something that although great for some, may not be the best choice for you. 3. Apple “Geniuses” are not all that brilliant. Usually.

.

We have met some great Apple Store employees, and the ones above the entry lebel are fairly knowledgable about most things Aople. When it comes to professional solutions however, or extending choice and possibilities outside the Apple ecosystem in hardware and software, our experience simply can’t be beat. Whether it’s one on one training, networks for your home or business, mobile, or any other needs, we offer far more comprehensive solutions, and we think outside the box in part because that’s where we prefer to live.

 .

4. What Apple recommends is not always the best option.

.

It’s a fairly obvious statement that an Apple Store employee will be looking out for the best interests of Apple first when it comes to providing you with solutions to your tech needs. We have often recommended solutions to clients or possible customers that have caused us to lose business, or make less money on something. Where our profits lie mostly is in services and training, and if you can’t trust us to do what’s right for you every time, then what good are we? Not much. We take your needs as paramount to everythng else, and we wil not offer solutions to your issues unless we believe 100% that it’s the best solution for you.

 .

5. Upgrades to certain products are a good idea.

.

While far less insidious than most other tech companies, Apple would love to see you get a new Mac every 18-24 months. Some of us upgrade our systems even more frequently out of need, but there is a lot more life left in that two year old MacBook Pro or iMac than you might think. Drive and RAM upgrades, system optimizations, OS upgrades, and much more can extend the usable life of your Apple computers far mote than you might know.

Apple is Our Passion. Computing is Our Calling.

(Whether we’re pushing pixels, teaching tech or maintaining Macs, We Love What We Do.)

We’re more honest than we are modest, so we’ll just say it. We’re good. Really good actually. It’s not just Apple gear either, although they are our specialty and platform preference. We use everything here, and have been working with computers and specifically computer graphics technologies since 1976. Really. We are so well versed in general technology, computers, operating systems, mobile, networks and computer graphics at the core, there’s pretty much nothing we can’t do. We don’t know it all, but what we don’t grok instantly, we can find out and learn with a speed that few in this industry can match. Whether you hire us for an hour support call, an iPad app, e-commerce site with social media hooks,  or a long term consulting and implementation gig, you’ll be thrilled at what we bring to the table. Creative solutions, innovative problem solving, marketing savvy, quality system builds, polished design sensitivities, and a passion for sharing our knowledge makes us truly unique. We’re so sure of our ability to impress you we’ll refund your money  if you aren’t completely satisfied with the service you get. Seriously.

Why Apple specific then? When you choose Apple computers and iDevices over PC’s running Windows, or other smartphone/tablet devices, that says something about you. No, not that you’re rich or snobby as some Mac haters would shout. It says you understand quality, and have certain expectations from your computing platform, from the design of the hardware to the operatig system and the apps that run on it. It also usually means you have a real right brain creative bent in some way too, and we like that. If you’re an Apple user, you know what we mean. If you’re not, we encourage you to open yourself to the idea and give us a call. We’ll have you “switched” and “thinking different” in no time, and trust us, you’ll never go back. In the 20+ years we’ve been doing this, none of the thousands of switchers we’ve helped to convert have ever ditched Apple.

Call us today, fill out our contact form, or shoot us a quick SMS with pushme.to at the bottom of this page if it’s an emergency. We’ll connect with you as soon as possible.
