Custom Systems, Installations & Support

 .

We don’t mass produce our systems, because we simply couldn’t. We want to provide a very small number of clients with superior hardware, services, and support that simply cannot be bought from the large PC clone makers. If you understand technology enough to get this video, you might be a candidate for our services in this area. If good enough is just that, we recommend you look at a pre-built system with garbage components wherever possible and technical support provided courtesy a policies and procedures manual read back to you by an Indian gentleman with a thick Hindi accent in Bangalore named “Thomas.” Of all things.

 .

Why a Custom System? Do You Need This?

You may not. If you are ok with bottom of the barrel components, systems that underperform, or your main reasons for having a computer are Facebook and email, then you might be fine with a “WalMart special” PC. If you care about a qulaity product, value your data whether it’s music and photos or business files, and want a machine with the best price/performance and reliability, then you should seriously consider a custom build from ApplePRO. We use only the best components for every machine we build, and in addition to our 1 year parts and labor warranty, we also offer custom tailored support contracts similar to AppleCare. We go one step further though and even offer on-site service contracts.

Here are a few facts you should know before you buy that new PC:

 .

  • Most large PC makers cut corners everywhere they can to maximize profits. They use cheap IC’s, get motherboards made for volume lines with cheap interconnects and parts, and they are literally Designed To Fail (DTF, also known as planned obsolescence) so you replace your PC every couple of years. Conspiracy? No, just business in the age of global corporate interests being more important than… you. That’s not how we roll.
  • Every machine should ship with two drives, period. Internal or external (so you can take it with you), having two copies of all your data should not be optional. With us, it’s mandatory, because it’s smart. Hard drives fail, and so do Solid State Drives (SSD’s).
  • Most tech support from big companies is useless. Apple is an exception, but most companies outsource to non-English speaking countries, and what English support they do have consists of a heavily accented foreign national with a basic procedure manual and no access to the greater Internet to look further into your issue, even if they understood it in the first place. Chances are, they don’t. We never met a problem we couldn’t resolve. Ever.
  • Often a PC vendor will use parts a generation (or three) removed from the current technology, touting it as new in order to increase profits. Often, you can get 2X or more performance from parts for the same money with us, and we don’t make money on the parts generally. Our profits are built into the assembling, service, and support of the systems.
  • You data means nothing to the “Big Boys.” That’s why a certain OS vendor in Redmond pushes out updates to you first, then their Fortune 500 clients; you are a guinea pig for questionable “enhancements.” It’s also why PC makers use cheap drives, inferior power supplies, and other parts that combined, make it far more likely you may fall victim to a major data loss.
  • Customization for name brand PC’s only goes so far. If you know what you really want, it can be frustrating if not impossible, to get it from the large vendors. We design your system around you and your needs, not what “the mass market” wants. The masses do what they’re told.

There’s a lot more to know of course, but that’s what we do, we know. Put your trust in us. Real, accesible human beings who can connect with and support you in ways few large companies can. We’re not cheap, but in the bigger picture we’re actually more cost effective, and your satisfaction, data integrity and productiviry really do matter to us. It’s our job to care, and we love our job.

We did a video a little while back comparing a MacPro to a custom system we could build and the pricing of those components. One thing to understand is that at ApplePRO we do NOT do cheap. Inexpensive yes, but never cheap. If your idea of a decent PC is one you might dind at Wal-Mart and we can’t convince you otherwise, then we are not the company for you. The big PC makers want you to replace your computer every 18-24 months. If you need more and more power like 3D animators or video artists, you should be anle to have a computer last five or six years with upgradeable parts if it’s built well from the start. Next we will be doing a head to head comparison of a Dell and a custom rig we can build which will provide greater clarity as to how the “big boys” are making their obscene profits.

MacPro vs HacPro 2010 from WholeAppleTV on Vimeo.

 .

This video shows how the costs of components breaks down in buying a MacPro vs. building your own totally compatible with Snow Leopard, HacPro. As of August 8 this info was correct, but now Apple has released the new Hexacore MacPro for order. Prices have come down, but at around $13,800 for the new model as closely configured to our test system, building your own and getting better, faster hardware still comes in at $4000 less! The HacPro is also more expandable, has faster CPU’s and RAM, More Storage, SSD Boot Drive, USB 3.0, eSATA, Pro Audio I/O, and much more. Check it out and let us know what you think!
